A Sanibel Island Florida poster looking up the beach to the island's rust-red iron lighthouse. The skeletal tower stands on braced legs above a thicket of sea grape and mangrove, dark rocks break the shoreline, and the whole foreground is a drift of shells — whelks, cockles and scallops piled along the tideline in coral, cream and pale blue, with the flat turquoise Gulf running out to a low horizon.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with hard-edged shapes and no outlines, shaded in stepped bands of colour. The palette runs from rust and terracotta on the lighthouse ironwork, through olive and sea green in the vegetation, to cream sand and three separate blues in the water — pale aqua at the shallows, mid turquoise offshore, and a soft powder blue sky. The shell bed in the lower half is drawn shell by shell rather than as texture, which is what gives the print its detail. Typography is a wide white sans-serif reading SANIBEL ISLAND, with FLORIDA below in smaller letterspaced caps. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The shelling beach, drawn properly — the foreground is hundreds of individual shells, not a generic strip of sand.
- An unusual lighthouse — an open iron skeleton tower rather than the usual white stone cylinder, and painted the same rust red it wears in life.
- Cool coastal palette — aqua, turquoise and cream, warmed by the single hit of rust in the tower.
- A specific souvenir — for people who know the causeway, the lighthouse beach and the stoop of the Sanibel shell hunt.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The aqua and cream do their best work on pale walls — white, chalk or the beige console room in the photographs above — where the turquoise stays clean. Against the sage green wall the greens in the mangrove line up and the print reads calmer and more tonal. Light oak suits the sand tones; a black frame sharpens the rust of the tower if you want more contrast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The shell detail in the foreground rewards scale — 24" x 36" or larger lets you read individual shells. At 12" x 18" the beach reads as texture instead.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? SANIBEL ISLAND runs across the top of the sky, with FLORIDA beneath it in smaller capitals. Nothing else is printed on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
