A San Gimignano poster seen across the valley: a dozen square stone towers standing straight up out of a small hill town, tiled roofs packed around their feet, and rows of olive and vine climbing towards it through the foreground.
About the artwork
Everything in this drawing is horizontal except the towers, and that is the whole idea. The land is laid down in bands — vine rows in the bottom corner drawn as ruled green lines on bare red earth, then a wide olive grove where every tree gets its own stippled silver canopy and a short dark trunk, then a belt of darker woodland with cypresses spiked through it, then the town, then the hills. Against all that flatness the towers go up like a bar chart: a tall one near the centre, a pair leaning close together on the left, others stepping away to the right, all in pale ochre and grey stone with tiny square windows. The roofs between them are warm terracotta, and the far country dissolves into soft green and cream fields under a clean blue sky. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Italy beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A skyline of towers. No other Tuscan town gives you that stack of verticals in one silhouette.
- Olive silver against ochre. The grey-green foreground cools the stone and keeps the print from going sweet.
- Layer after layer. Vines, olives, cypresses, town, hills — five distinct depths you can pick apart.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The muted olive and stone colours suit a dining room or a kitchen wall better than a bright hallway. Put it against mushroom, putty or oatmeal paint, with linen, unglazed stoneware and a heavy wooden table nearby. A walnut frame deepens the woodland band; a black frame pulls out the cypresses and makes the towers read more graphically. It sits well beside the Assisi print, which shares the same olive terraces and hill-town profile.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
How many towers are there? Around a dozen stand clear of the roofline in this drawing, with several more showing only as short stubs among the houses.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
