A Saint Malo travel poster of the walled city seen from high above the sand: a long curve of gold beach with small figures spread across it, granite ramparts and a round bastion holding the line, and the tall slate-roofed houses of the walled city behind.
About the artwork
The image is built from three long curves, the surf line, the beach and the wall, and almost nothing else, which is why it reads so cleanly from a distance. The palette is tight: turquoise and jade in the sea, warm apricot and honey in the sand, cream and grey-blue in the town, with a pale teal sky that lightens to white at the horizon. On the left a broad path of sun-glitter is drawn as thousands of short white dashes on the water, and low rocks break the surf into foam. The wall runs in from the right in warm grey granite, its blocks and merlons drawn individually, with a round tower planted directly on the sand. Above it the houses stand shoulder to shoulder with steep slate roofs and rows of dormer windows. Dozens of tiny figures walk the beach, each with its own long shadow. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Read from the air. A high viewpoint that turns the beach and the ramparts into two clean arcs.
- Tiny figures with long shadows. The detail that gives the whole scene its scale.
- Turquoise and gold, little else. A near two-colour print, which is why it stays calm on a busy wall.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Restful and open, so it works where you want air: a bedroom, a bathroom, a landing with not much furniture in it. Chalk white, pale grey and soft blue walls suit it, and on a deeper navy wall the sand glows. White or driftwood frames keep the coastal reading, while a thin black frame makes it more graphic. It goes with linen, painted wood and pale rush matting. Hang it above a bed with the Benagil Cave print for two contrasting pieces of Atlantic coast.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the wall on the right? The granite rampart of the old walled town, with a round bastion at the beach end and the town houses rising behind it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
