A Russian Gulch State Park poster looking out of the gulch toward the ocean, where a pale concrete arch carries the coast highway from bluff to bluff. Beneath it a green-blue swell runs into a small sandy cove, dark rocks break the surf, and grassy headlands step away to the north.
About the artwork
A closely worked painted illustration. The bridge is drawn with its open spandrel columns, deck railing and the shadow it throws on the cliff; a single small vehicle crosses it and sets the scale. The palette holds sea green and deep teal in the water, white foam, warm sand, and bluff faces in ochre and grey with rust-orange patches, all under a strong blue sky with tall cream cumulus. Dark cypress and pine mass on the left slope and a single wind-shaped conifer leans in from the right. Low coastal scrub in flower fills the bottom right corner. The bottom band reads RUSSIAN GULCH with STATE PARK and CALIFORNIA below in white capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Bridge and cove together — the concrete arch over the gulch mouth is the view people stop for on this part of the Mendocino coast.
- Real Pacific colour — the water is green rather than tropical blue, which is what this coast actually looks like.
- Layered depth — foreground scrub, the cove, the bridge, then two ranks of headland fading into haze.
- Northern California, not Big Sur — a coast highway print from the Mendocino end of the state.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Sea green, sand and dark conifer make this an easy fit for a living room in warm white, putty or a muted sage. Natural oak framing keeps it light; espresso framing pulls out the dark cypress. It sits well above a cream sofa with big leafy plants, as in the photographs above, and it takes a room with jute, rattan and ceramic in unglazed cream.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The bridge columns and the far headlands are fine detail, so 18" x 27" and up is the safe range. Over a sofa, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40".
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where exactly is this? On the Mendocino coast of northern California, just north of the town of Mendocino, where the coast highway crosses the mouth of Russian Gulch on a concrete arch.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
