A Ross Castle Killarney poster from the shore of the lake: the grey tower house on its rocky point, dark blue water breaking around scattered boulders, and a mountain of solid green filling the space behind it.
About the artwork
The composition runs corner to corner. The foreground is a bank of long grass drawn stroke by stroke in straw, olive and pale gold, every blade bending the same way with the wind, two rounded shrubs sitting in it and a stony shoreline below. From there the lake opens out — navy in the shade of the near bank, brightening to sunlit silver along the far edge, with boulders standing proud of the surface. The castle takes the left third: a square battlemented tower with a taller gabled block against it, chimney stacks and narrow slit windows, drawn in cool blue-grey with warm light on one face. Woods and a broad heather-green mountain rise behind, split cleanly into lit and shadowed slopes, and a branch of dark leaves hangs into the top corner to frame it. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Ireland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The grass is the foreground. A third of the sheet is windblown meadow, drawn blade by blade, which is unusual in a travel print.
- Castle and mountain together. Stone, lake and hillside in one frame, the whole reason people walk out to this shore.
- Green and navy. A cool, deep palette that stays calm on the wall rather than shouting.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The deep greens and near-black blues suit a bedroom, snug or a room with a lot of natural wood, and they sit well against cream, clay or sage walls. Linen, wool and unfinished oak are the right neighbours. A natural oak frame keeps it soft, espresso deepens the whole thing. It reads as a set with the Cobh print for Ireland, or with the Dark Hedges if you want two green landscapes side by side.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Why does the print say Killarney? The title names the town and its lakes; the building drawn here is Ross Castle, the tower house standing on the shore of the lower lake.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
