A Robert H. Treman State Park poster looking up a narrow gorge in autumn. A single ribbon of water slides down a stepped shale face into a broad blue-green plunge pool that fills the whole foreground, a stone footbridge crosses the gorge above the drop, and rust-red maple branches hang into the frame from the top left.
About the artwork
Painted in a detailed illustrative style: the gorge walls are drawn bed by bed, so the horizontal shale layering runs the full height of both cliffs and gives the picture its structure. The palette moves from rust and burnt orange in the maples through mid and deep forest green on the slopes, cool grey and buff in the rock, and a turquoise-to-teal gradient in the pool. Above, a bright blue sky carries a tall stack of white cumulus. The bottom band reads ROBERT H. TREMAN with STATE PARK and NEW YORK beneath, separated by a dot, in white capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Gorge, not just waterfall — the layered rock walls take up as much of the picture as the water, which is what this park actually feels like from the trail.
- A footbridge for scale — the span above the falls tells you how deep the cut really is.
- Peak autumn colour — rust maples against evergreen, a Finger Lakes season that most waterfall prints skip.
- That plunge pool — the wide turquoise basin in the foreground is unusual for a gorge print and carries a lot of the colour.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Rust and forest green want a warm, low-contrast wall: buttermilk, clay or a muted olive rather than stark white. Walnut framing follows the maples; pale oak follows the shale. On the herringbone floor and beside the stack of books in the photographs above it reads as a study print. In a dining room, pick up the turquoise pool with glazed ceramics and leave the rest earthy.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The rock layering and the far bridge are fine detail, so 18" x 27" or larger keeps them readable. For a stairwell or a wide living room wall, 30" x 40".
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
How is this different from the other Finger Lakes gorge prints? Treman is the narrow, stepped gorge with a footbridge over the main drop and a wide swimming basin below it. Watkins Glen is the spiral stone stairway and tunnel, Taughannock is the single tall plunge into an amphitheatre, and Letchworth is the broad river gorge. Each has its own print in this series.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
