This Rijksmuseum watercolor print shows the red-brick museum in Amsterdam across the Singelgracht canal, with golden elms and a moored houseboat in front. The image is an artist's interpretation in watercolor-style, so it is not an exact view.
About the artwork
Detailed brown ink outlines each window and spire of the red-brick building, and the slate roofs are washed in gray-blue. The canal is blue with gold and red reflections, and the elm trees are dabbed in glowing yellow. The Rijksmuseum, with its two central towers and arched passage, sits in the middle background, seen from the north bank. An arched brick bridge crosses the middle ground, gabled canal houses line both sides, and a houseboat, bicycles and street lamps fill the left foreground. It is late autumn, with long drips at both lower corners. "AMSTERDAM" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Houseboat foreground. A moored houseboat with potted plants on its roof sits right at the water's edge.
- Bikes along the canal. Bicycles lean on iron railings while a cyclist crosses the bridge.
- Golden elm leaves. Yellow autumn trees glow against the red brick and blue water.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".

- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Brick red, gold and canal blue suit a cozy living room, a study or a hallway with warm wood tones. It makes a thoughtful gift for a painting lover, a museum member or someone who once lived in Amsterdam. Pair it with our Amsterdam watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Rijksmuseum? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Rijksmuseum, and some details, such as the bridge arches, are simplified or changed.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "AMSTERDAM," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
