A Rialto Beach Hole in the Wall poster looking north along the cobble shore to the headland where the sea has punched a rounded arch clean through the rock. A tall pointed stack stands beside it, a second stack sits offshore with wind-bent conifers on its crown, and bleached driftwood logs fill the near corner of the beach.
About the artwork
A painted illustration with heavy linework: every log, cobble and needle is drawn rather than suggested. The palette is deliberately muted — sage and pale teal in the sea and sky, olive and blue-green in the spruce, ochre and grey-green on the rock faces, and warm bleached tan through the driftwood. White surf breaks in three long parallel lines across the middle of the picture, which is what gives the composition its horizontal rhythm against the vertical stacks. The bottom band reads HOLE IN THE WALL over RIALTO BEACH, with WASHINGTON below in smaller white capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The arch is the identifier — Hole in the Wall is the feature that tells this stretch of the Olympic coast apart from every other stack-and-driftwood beach nearby.
- Driftwood in the foreground — the log jam at the tideline is drawn full size, and it is exactly what you climb over walking north from the Mora parking area.
- A quiet, weathered palette — sage, olive and bone rather than postcard blue, so it suits calm rooms.
- Tide-dependent landmark — the arch is only walkable at low water, which makes it a genuine souvenir for anyone who timed it right.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Sage, bone and driftwood tan make this one of the easiest prints in the series to place. It settles into a room of soft greens and warm whites without fighting anything, and pale oak framing echoes the logs directly — as it does above the slim wood bench in the photographs above. In a bedroom, pair it with linen in oatmeal or eucalyptus; avoid strong navy, which pulls the muted sea colour flat.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The driftwood and cobble detail is fine, so 18" x 27" upward is the sweet spot. Smaller sizes still read because the arch and the stacks are big shapes.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The printed wording is HOLE IN THE WALL, then RIALTO BEACH, then WASHINGTON. Both Rialto Beach and Ruby Beach further south lie on the Olympic National Park coastal strip and each has its own print in the national park collection; Rialto is the one with the arch, Ruby the one with the red-tinted sand.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
