A Reykjavik travel poster looking across the rooftops: the stepped concrete church tower standing alone in the middle of the frame, the whole city packed around it in corrugated tin roofs of scarlet and cobalt, and a snow-covered mountain sitting flat and blue on the horizon beyond the bay.
About the artwork
The boldest colour in the whole Europe series, and it is not invented — Reykjavik really is roofed in painted corrugated iron, and the print leans all the way into it. Red and blue are used in almost equal quantity, jammed against each other with cream walls and white gable ends as the only separation, and the roofs are drawn with their ridges and chimney stacks so the surface stays busy at any distance. Against that riot the church is deliberately colourless: a pale grey wedge of stepped concrete, the tallest and quietest thing in the image. Behind the city the mountain and sea are laid in as three flat bands, which lets the eye rest at the top. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Iceland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Red and blue at full strength. No other print in the series is this loud, and it earns it.
- A tower with nothing else like it. The stepped concrete front reads instantly.
- City and wilderness in one frame. Painted roofs in front, snow mountain behind.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a statement print. Give it a plain white or off-white wall and nothing beside it — hung in a gallery cluster it will overpower everything around it. It is a good kitchen, dining room or child's room piece. A white or natural frame keeps it clean; black adds weight it does not need. If it feels too strong for a living room, go smaller rather than choosing a different print.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? An elevated view over the old town, with the church tower centred and the bay and mountain behind.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
