A Rainbow Row Charleston poster looking down the joined townhouses from close to the wall. The row runs away in steep perspective: coral first, then aqua, mustard, orange and pale blue, each with teal shutters and doors, cream trim and a black gas lantern by the step. Palmetto fronds lean in from the right and lay their shadows across the flagstone sidewalk.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with hard edges, worked over with a stucco grain so the plaster faces read as rough render rather than solid colour. The palette is the row itself: salmon coral, turquoise, marigold yellow, burnt orange, dusty pink and pale cream, all cut with the same teal on shutters and doors, and set against a clear cobalt sky. Details to look for are the arched pediments over the doorways, the shutter dogs holding the panels open, the wall-mounted lanterns, the window boxes, and the fan-shaped palm shadows on the paving. The type reads CHARLESTON in wide white capitals with SOUTH CAROLINA beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Colour with a plan — five bold house colours held together by one teal accent, so it is lively without clashing.
- A walker's view — the steep angle down East Bay puts you on the sidewalk rather than across the street.
- Southern light — hard sun, deep shade and palmetto shadow, the exact feel of a Charleston afternoon.
- Texture up close — the stucco grain and the shutter hardware reward looking at it from a step away.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This one carries a lot of colour, so give it a quiet wall: white, bone or pale grey lets the coral and marigold do the work. It is a good living room piece over a sideboard, or a bright note in a hallway that gets little daylight. In the terracotta room in the photographs above, the black frame ties into the shutters and stops the warm wall competing with the coral house.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The receding row needs room to breathe, so 24" x 36" over a sofa or console shows it best. In a gallery grouping, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" keeps it in scale with its neighbours.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas comes stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The lettering on the print is CHARLESTON with SOUTH CAROLINA underneath. The words Rainbow Row do not appear on the artwork, even though that is the stretch of houses shown.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
