A Quebec City travel poster drawn from downriver, where the whole city reads as one shape: the green-roofed hotel perched on the top of Cap Diamant, the grey rock face falling away beneath it, and the St. Lawrence opening out wide and dark across two thirds of the page.
About the artwork
A quieter, more painterly treatment than the close view of the hotel. The sky is a single deep cobalt gradient with no cloud at all, which is what gives the print its stillness; the cliff is worked in olive and grey-green scrub with the stone arcade of the terrace running along its crest, and the river below is a dense field of short dark strokes with light breaking on it in the middle distance. Low blue hills close the horizon on the right, and a small quay with a jetty sits at the foot of the rock. Title in white capitals, QUÉBEC above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The view from the water. The angle you get from the Lévis ferry, not from the terrace — the whole promontory in one frame.
- Deep, saturated blue. Cobalt sky and near-black river; it anchors a pale wall the way a large photograph would.
- Room to breathe. The building sits high and small, and the rest is rock, water and sky, so it never feels busy.
- Pairs with the close view. Same city, opposite distance — the two hang well together as a pair.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a print for a pale wall and a lot of light: white, bone or the palest grey, where the cobalt reads as depth instead of weight. Black frames suit it best; the herringbone-floor scene above shows how it holds a corner leaning rather than hung. In a bedroom it works above the bed at 24" x 36", where the empty sky sits behind the headboard.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
How is this different from the other Québec print? This is the wide view from downriver: the cliff, the river and the far hills, with the hotel small on the crest. The other Québec print moves in close on the hotel itself, filling the frame with its copper roofs and the coloured houses of the Lower Town.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
