About the artwork

A quieter, more painterly treatment than the close view of the hotel. The sky is a single deep cobalt gradient with no cloud at all, which is what gives the print its stillness; the cliff is worked in olive and grey-green scrub with the stone arcade of the terrace running along its crest, and the river below is a dense field of short dark strokes with light breaking on it in the middle distance.
