A Pukaskwa National Park poster from the granite above the Lake Superior shore: bare grey headlands stepping down into blue-white surf, dark spruce holding the slopes on both sides, and open lake running flat to the horizon with no far shore in sight.
About the artwork
The rock is the subject. Slabs and boulders are drawn with the glacial grain still showing, split by dark seams and dressed with patches of moss, and they take up the whole lower half of the sheet. Between them the water is worked in three tones — deep blue offshore, mid blue in the bays, and white where it breaks over the shallows. The spruce are inked almost black so the grey rock and the blue water carry all the light, and a bleached driftwood root lies across the near boulders in the foreground.
The sheet is the Canadian park service layout used across this series, with the type in deep olive: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading ONTARIO · 48.60° N, 86.28° W · EST 1978, and PUKASKWA at the foot over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A freshwater coast that looks like an ocean. No far shore, real surf, and headlands running out of sight — Superior at its most open.
- Ontario's only wilderness national park. Roughly 1,900 square kilometres of Canadian Shield, reached mainly on foot along the coastal trail.
- Grey, blue and near-black. A cool restrained palette that suits a modern room and does not fight a busy bookshelf.
- Hangs as a set. Every print in the Canada parks series shares the same border, banner and typographic foot, so a row of them lines up exactly.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool greys and blues want light around them: white, bone or the palest grey walls, ideally with daylight. Black frames sharpen the rock edges; natural oak warms the whole sheet and picks up the cream border. Strong above a desk or in a stairwell at 18" x 24", and a natural pair with Georgian Bay Islands or Bruce Peninsula for an Ontario wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Is that the sea? No — Lake Superior. It is large enough to have a true horizon and real surf. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1978.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.
If it arrives damaged, misprinted or simply wrong, email us within 14 days with photos of the piece and the packaging. We reprint and reship it free, and there is nothing to send back.
Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Dust paper prints with a clean, dry cloth; wipe canvas and framed canvas gently with a clean, damp cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed. More care tips are in our Material Guide.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
