A Praia da Marinha poster from the sand at the water's edge: two great ochre limestone stacks stand out in the shallows, a weathered double arch sits between them with sea running through both openings, and a shelf of golden beach comes forward under a lace of turquoise foam.
About the artwork
The print is composed like a doorway — a tall cliff wall on the right edge, a broad stack on the left, and the arch framed in the gap between them, with the horizon a thin blue line far back. All the rock is drawn in the same warm family: apricot and marigold on the sunlit faces, rust and brown in the crevices, cooler mauve-grey where the shade is deepest, and the layers of limestone stepped in visible horizontal bands with tufts of scrub clinging along the top edges. The arch is the detail worth walking up to — the two openings are different sizes, the pillar between them is undercut at the base where waves have hollowed it, and daylight shows through both. Water is graded from pale jade at the sand to strong turquoise past the rocks, and the incoming wave is painted as flat overlapping shapes of white and green rather than spray, with a thin dark line of wet sand marking how far the last one came. Boulders sit half-buried in the foreground. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Portugal beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The double arch. Two openings, an undercut pillar and daylight straight through the middle of the print.
- Ochre against turquoise. Complementary colours doing the work, warm rock over cool water.
- Layered stone. The limestone bands are drawn as visible strata, not as generic cliff texture.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm and sunlit, so it carries a room that gets little daylight — a north-facing bedroom, a bathroom, a hallway that needs heat. The golds and rusts work against cream, clay and soft peach walls, alongside terracotta, rattan and honey-toned wood. Natural oak framing is the obvious match for the sand; espresso deepens the cliff faces if the room already has dark furniture. It sits nicely beside the Nerja print, two Iberian coves with the same clear water but very different rock.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Can you walk to the arch? In the picture it stands offshore in shallow water, separated from the beach shelf in the foreground by a band of turquoise, so it reads as something you would swim or paddle out to rather than reach on foot.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
