A Point Pelee National Park poster from the head of the boardwalk: a plank walkway zigzagging out through cattails and lily pads, monarch butterflies scattered through the grasses on either side, and the sandspit and Lake Erie opening out beyond the marsh.
About the artwork
Warm where the rest of the series is cool. The boardwalk is the strongest shape in the print — honey-coloured planks turning back on themselves in three long zigzags — and it pulls the eye from the bottom edge all the way to the water. Around it the marsh is painted in golds, olives and rust with open channels of pale blue between the reed beds and lily pads drawn individually on the surface. Monarchs sit on the grasses in the foreground in orange and black, small enough to notice rather than shout. Tall cumulus builds over the lake.
The layout is the Canadian park service sheet used across this series, with the type in olive gold: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading ONTARIO · 41.96° N, 82.51° W · EST 1918, and POINT PELEE at the foot over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The monarchs are the point. Point Pelee is where they gather in their thousands before crossing the lake, and the print puts them where you actually see them.
- Canada's southernmost mainland. Further south than northern California, which surprises most people.
- A path that leads. The zigzag boardwalk gives the composition its movement without any dramatic landform.
- Gold and orange. The warmest palette in the Canada parks series after Waterton.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Gold and olive make this an easy print for a kitchen, breakfast nook or garden room, and it sits well on cream, clay and soft green walls. Natural oak frames echo the boardwalk. Because the monarchs are small, hang it where people pass close and go 20" x 30" or larger if the wall allows — finding the butterflies is half the pleasure of it.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What are the orange butterflies? Monarchs, which stage at Point Pelee each autumn before crossing Lake Erie on their way south. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1918.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
