A Point Lobos State Reserve poster looking down into one of the reserve's granite coves. A single Monterey cypress leans out from the headland on the left, its crown flattened and combed inland by decades of onshore wind. Below, a turquoise channel breaks white over submerged rock, and a bare granite stack stands offshore on the right.
About the artwork
Illustrated with fine contour lines through the rock and the water, so the granite looks fractured and the swell looks banded. The palette is cool but layered: bone white and pale grey in the granite, warm rust and iron-red where the rock is stained, deep bottle green in the cypress canopy, sage in the coastal scrub, and turquoise running to steel blue offshore. Cream cumulus pile up on the right against a graded blue sky. The cypress silhouette is the anchor of the composition, its bare trunk drawn in ridged bark detail. White sans-serif capitals at the base read POINT LOBOS above STATE PARK•CALIFORNIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The cypress that defines the reserve — Point Lobos and Cypress Point are two of the only places these trees grow wild.
- A cove, not an open horizon — the enclosed water and offshore stack give the print structure most seascapes lack.
- Granite and turquoise — a cool, clean palette that works in a bathroom or bedroom as easily as a lounge.
- Monterey Peninsula memory — for anyone who has walked the Cypress Grove Trail south of Carmel.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Turquoise and bone grey are forgiving. On a crisp white or pale blue wall the cove colour stays clean; on a sage or eucalyptus wall the cypress takes over and the piece reads greener. A white floating frame suits a bright coastal room; the oak frame in the photographs above keeps it warmer. It pairs well with linen, rattan and unglazed ceramics.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The cypress silhouette reads well even small, so 12" x 18" works on a shelf or in a gallery group. For a bedroom wall, 24" x 36" gives the cove room.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads POINT LOBOS with STATE PARK•CALIFORNIA underneath. Its official designation today is Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, so the artwork uses the older, shorter wording.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
