A Madrid travel poster from inside the Plaza Mayor arcade: vermilion brick piers and stone arches running away in steep perspective, a row of wrought-iron lanterns hanging one after another, and hard afternoon shadow laid in bars across the paving.
About the artwork
The only interior perspective in the series, and the most graphic composition. The arcade recedes at a sharp angle so the piers get narrower and closer together as they go, and the lanterns repeat down the line at diminishing scale — a rhythm that does most of the work. The palette is three colours held hard: vermilion brick, cream limestone on the quoins and cornices, and a deep teal sky above. Ironwork on the balconies and lantern brackets is drawn in near-black filigree. The shadow pattern on the ground is as carefully constructed as the architecture. Flat vector illustration. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Perspective as the subject. It behaves like an architectural drawing — strong lines, strong shadow, no soft edges anywhere.
- Red that is actually red. Nothing else in the collection commits to a saturated warm colour this fully.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The strong recession makes this a natural print for a narrow wall or the end of a corridor, where the perspective seems to continue the space. It needs a plain pale wall — white or cool grey — because the vermilion will fight anything warm. Black frames suit the ironwork. Works in a home office where the graphic quality reads as intentional rather than decorative.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". On a corridor end wall, go 24" x 36" so the perspective has room to work.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the red accurate? Yes. The Plaza Mayor's facades are painted a deep brick red, which is why the square looks so unlike the rest of central Madrid.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
