A place de la bourse poster built on a single idea: the long honey-coloured facade running away in perspective along the quay, and the same facade repeated upside down in the thin sheet of water below it.
About the artwork
This is the quietest print in the set and the most geometric. The building enters at the upper left, tall and detailed, then narrows to almost nothing at a vanishing point on the right — dozens of identical windows, a rusticated ground floor, a slate-blue mansard roof studded with dormers and pale chimney stacks. At the left end a domed pavilion breaks the roofline, capped with an open lantern and a long needle-thin spire that rises well into the sky. A line of black lamp posts marks the edge of the quay, with two or three small figures for scale. Below the parapet the water takes it all again, held together and only slightly disturbed by a few pale ripples, so the reflection is soft rather than sharp. The bottom left corner is a diamond pattern of grey and cream paving slabs, cut off by the water's straight edge. The sky is flat blue with no cloud at all. The city name in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Symmetry as the subject. The mirrored facade does the work; nothing else needs to happen.
- Honey stone against slate blue. Two colours, held in balance, easy to live with.
- Calm at any size. The long horizontal runs suit a wide wall above a bed or sofa.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Restrained enough for a bedroom or a formal living room, and it works particularly well in a pale, uncluttered scheme — chalk white, soft grey, or a dusty blue that echoes the water. Slim black frames suit its precision; a pale oak frame warms the stone. It sits nicely above a low console with a single ceramic vase, or in a stairwell where the diagonal has room to travel. Hang it with another French city print if you want a matched pair.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What words are printed on it? The lettering reads Bordeaux, with France beneath — the city name, not the name of the square.
Is the water real or a lake? It is the shallow reflecting pool laid across the quay opposite the facade, which floods to a few millimetres and then drains.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
