A Japanese landscape wall art print in woodblock style: a twisted pine grows from rocks on the right above a quiet mountain lake, as the sun rises between the peaks and a small roofed boat crosses the water.
About the artwork
The pine's trunk is drawn with textured bark and its needles gathered into flat green clouds. Blue-green mountains stand on both sides, fading into haze, and the pale sun sends thin rays across a warm cream sky. Its reflection stretches down the middle of the lake toward a boat with a figure in a straw hat. At the upper left the title reads 湖光山色, “lake light and mountain colour”, followed by three lines: 山静かにして水澄む, “the mountains are still and the water clear”; 朝日さしこむ峰の間, “the morning sun shines in between the peaks”; and 舟ゆく影もまた清し, “even the shadow of a passing boat is pure”. A seal sits beside it. Ukiyo-e style. Landscape.
Why you'll love it
- Morning calm. A soft sunrise over still water.
- A classic pine. The twisted tree gives the scene its shape.
- Muted palette. Sage, cream and misty blue.
- Built wide. Drawn as a landscape, not a vertical design turned on its side.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. 12" x 8" through 54" x 36", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 18" x 12" to 48" x 32".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 18" x 12" to 48" x 32".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it above a sofa, a desk or a sideboard in a calm living room or home office. Natural oak frames suit the sage tones.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does the text mean? It praises the light on the lake and the colour of the mountains, the clear water, the morning sun and a passing boat.
What size works above a desk? 24" x 16" or 30" x 20" suits most desks.
Is it landscape? Yes, the lake and mountains run across a wide sheet.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
