A Pike Place Market poster set on a wet evening on Pike Place itself. The red PUBLIC MARKET sign and its round clock burn over the arcade, shoppers move under umbrellas past the flower stalls, and the whole street below turns into a mirror of red and gold neon on cobblestones streaked with rain.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes worked in low light, with the rain drawn as thin diagonal lines across the upper half and the reflections as long vertical bars of colour. The palette is almost entirely teal and red: petrol-blue night sky, slate and midnight blue buildings, near-black crowds in silhouette, then hot scarlet neon, amber window light and warm gold lamps doing all the work. The flower stalls on the left add tomato red, marigold and green. Details to look for are the market clock face, the vertical blade sign on the brick building, the strung bulbs over the arcade, the street lamps on cast-iron poles and a sliver of Elliott Bay in the top right. The type reads SEATTLE in white capitals with WASHINGTON letterspaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Rain is the subject — the reflections take up the bottom third and give the print its depth, rather than being an afterthought.
- The market sign as the light source — that red neon is the one thing everybody photographs, and here it lights the whole street.
- A dark print that still glows — teal and near-black hold the frame while the neon carries the eye.
- Real Seattle weather — umbrellas, wet cobbles and low cloud, not a blue-sky postcard.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the dark print in a room, so give it space and let it be the focal point. On a white or pale grey wall the teal reads almost black and the neon pops hard; on the sage wall in the photographs above the blues cool down and the red stays the only warm note. Black framing suits it best. It works well in a home office, a study or a den with dark wood, and matte canvas is worth considering here because there is no glass to bounce lamplight back at you.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Dark, detailed scenes need scale. 20" x 30" is a good starting point, and 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" over a desk or sofa keeps the crowd and the reflections from turning into a smudge.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive rolled and unframed in standard US and A-series sizes. Framed canvas ships ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
What does the poster say? The title lettering is SEATTLE and WASHINGTON. Inside the scene the neon sign over the arcade reads PUBLIC MARKET beside a lit clock face, which is the entrance sign on Pike Place.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
