A Petrified Forest National Park watercolor painting: a broken petrified log lying in segments across a badlands ridge, its cut ends glowing orange, rust and lavender-white, with banded purple-gray badlands and a painted-desert plain beyond.
About the artwork
The log segments form a strong diagonal from the bottom center, with the badlands on the right and a wide horizon above. Bold, saturated, almost opaque strokes build the logs, with softer washes in the distant plain. The park is the only national park that protects a stretch of historic Route 66.
Why you'll love it
- Jewel-toned wood. Orange, rust and lavender in stone.
- Made for tall walls. The portrait format suits the space above a bed, a narrow wall or a stairwell.
- Thirteen sizes. From a small gallery-wall piece up to a 30" x 40" statement print.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, color-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
It suits a study, an office or a desert-toned living room. Rust, amber and lavender pair with cream and dark wood; a natural frame suits it.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the color, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? 18" x 24" and up above a sofa or bed; 12" x 18" works in a gallery wall of several parks.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
How is this different from your other Petrified Forest prints? This is the watercolor version: a broken petrified log across a badlands ridge, with no lettering on the image. The vintage travel poster, WPA, screen print, retro, mid-century, panoramic, classical oil, impasto oil, illustrated and landmark Petrified Forest prints are separate designs.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
