A Palo Duro Canyon Texas poster centred on the Lighthouse. The slim spire rises off a red talus cone with a pale caprock block balanced on top, a cream-and-tan cliff runs back along the left rim, and the canyon floor below fills with juniper, mesquite and bunchgrass. Prickly pear in orange bloom crowds the bottom corners.
About the artwork
Painterly illustration with sharp light and shade rather than flat vector fills — the west face of the spire is lit and the east side drops into cool violet shadow. The palette runs burnt orange, rust and brick through the sandstone, cream and bone in the caprock and the upper cliff, olive and grey-green in the junipers, wheat in the grass, jade in the cactus pads and blood orange in the blooms, under a deep teal sky with piled cream cumulus. The fine horizontal strata lines on the spire are drawn individually, which is what gives the rock its height. White capitals across the base read PALO DURO CANYON with TEXAS letterspaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The Lighthouse, drawn properly — the twin-column spire with its pale cap is the formation people hike six miles to see, not a generic canyon view.
- Foreground you can read — blooming prickly pear and yucca fill the lower third, giving the print detail up close as well as at distance.
- Panhandle colour — burnt orange rock against a teal sky is a combination that lifts a neutral room without extra accents.
- Second largest canyon in the country — a Texas print for people who know the state beyond its cities.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched on a wooden bar in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Burnt orange and teal is a strong pairing, so this print carries a plain wall on its own. Cream, sand and warm white keep it bright; a deep teal or olive wall makes the spire glow. Natural oak frames echo the grass and rock tones, as in the arched alcove and stone table photographs above. It also suits a den or hallway with leather, terracotta and woven textures already in the room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Over a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" gives the strata lines and the cactus room to show. At 12" x 18" the spire silhouette against the teal sky still reads well, which suits a gallery wall of Texas prints.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed in standard 2:3 proportions. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
Which formation is shown? The Lighthouse, the capped rock pillar at the end of the Lighthouse Trail in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, south of Amarillo. The lettering on the print names the canyon rather than the formation.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
