An Annecy Palais de Lisle poster of the little stone ship of a building marooned mid-canal: the Palais de l'Isle with its round turret and red-tiled roofs, jade water running past on both sides, and a green mountain closing the far end of the view.
About the artwork
The building sits like a prow in the middle of the canal and everything else is arranged around it. Its walls are pale limestone laid in courses, with small square windows, an arched opening at water level and a stair turret capped in weathered red tile; those roofs are the warmest note in the upper half. The water is the star: a strong jade turquoise, drawn with vertical reflection strokes that break into pale mint where the light lands. Both quays are lined with pastel houses in apricot, cream, dove grey and mint, with green shutters, iron balconies and red awnings, and a small footbridge crosses in the middle distance. In the foreground, terracotta planters and a bank of scarlet geraniums crowd the bottom corners. Behind everything a green mountain rises to a grey rock ridge under a few small clouds. The title is set in wide-tracked uppercase and reads Annecy, with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A building shaped like a boat. The medieval island house that gives the canal its whole outline.
- Scarlet geraniums against jade water. The colour pairing the print is built on.
- Mountains at the end of the street. Alpine and old town held in one frame.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The red flowers give it more punch than most canal scenes, so it holds its own in an entrance hall or a dining room. Cream, warm white and putty walls keep it cheerful, and a deep forest-green wall makes the turquoise water read almost tropical. Walnut and mid-brown frames suit the stone, with brass and wicker sitting well nearby; cool grey frames fight the terracotta roofs. It pairs neatly with the Riquewihr print, another French old town at eye level.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the building in the middle of the water? The Palais de l'Isle, a medieval stone house built on a wedge-shaped island in the canal, drawn here from the quay downstream.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
