A Pacific Rim National Park poster from the top of the beach: bleached driftwood logs piled across the foreground, rank after rank of surf rolling onto wet sand, and a line of sea stacks standing off the headland in the mist.
About the artwork
Built almost entirely from horizontals. The surf is drawn as five or six separate breaking lines, each a slightly different tone, so the water reads as moving in and not as a flat band; the wet sand mirrors the sky in pale silver; and the stacks recede in progressively lighter blues until they nearly dissolve. Against all that softness the driftwood in the foreground is hard and detailed — split grain, torn root plates, dry silver-grey timber — with salal and fern crowding in at the edges.
The layout is the Canadian park service sheet shared across this series: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading BRITISH COLUMBIA · 49.06° N, 125.72° W · EST 1970, and PACIFIC RIM at the foot in heavy condensed type over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- West coast weather, not postcard sun. Mist on the stacks and silver light on the sand — the way this beach actually looks most days.
- Driftwood as the foreground. The logs give the print its texture and its scale; without them it would be all horizon.
- The calmest palette in the series. Silver, pale blue and green, with no strong colour to fight anything else on the wall.
- Storm-watchers and surfers. Tofino and Ucluelet regulars know this stretch of coast in every season.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Low contrast and cool, so it needs a wall that will not swallow it — warm white or bone rather than beige, and good daylight. White and natural frames keep it airy; black is too heavy for this one. It is the easiest print in the Canada parks set to hang in a bedroom or bathroom, and it sits well beside black and white photographs.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where on the coast is this? The long surf beach of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, on the west side of Vancouver Island. The banner along the top gives the reserve's coordinates and its founding year, 1970.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
