An Oeschinensee poster from the stony shore at the lake's edge: milky turquoise water in front, a wall of grey limestone with thin waterfalls dropping into it, and a rank of snow-covered peaks closing the head of the valley.
About the artwork
The lower half is water and stone. In the shallows the turquoise is pale enough to show the bed, and the rounded boulders lying in it each get their own soft shadow and a bright rim where the surface breaks; on the left the shore piles up into a bank of white cobbles drawn one at a time. Behind the lake a cliff band runs the full width in faceted grey and buff planes, with several waterfalls falling from the top edge as white threads that go feathery near the bottom. Conifers cling to the ledges in dark blue-green. Above that the mountains rise in snowfields and brown rock ribs, the snow held in cool blue shadow on one side and left almost white on the other. Flat colour throughout, so depth comes from temperature rather than shading. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Switzerland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Glacial turquoise. The lake colour is the loudest thing in the frame and it earns that.
- Boulders under clear water. The shallows are drawn as see-through, not as a flat blue shape.
- Waterfalls off the cliff band. Small details that give the rock wall its height.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool, clean and quite modern, so it suits a bright living room, a home office or a bathroom where the turquoise can bounce around. White, pale grey and soft blue walls give it room; pale oak, wool and matte black metal sit well with it. A slim black frame makes it graphic, natural oak makes it softer. It pairs well with the Chillon Castle or Rhine Falls prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What are the white threads on the cliff? Meltwater falls dropping off the cliff band into the lake, several of them across the rock wall, thin at the top and spreading as they fall.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
