A Niagara Falls illustrated print taken from the New York bank, looking along the whole cataract at once. American Falls drops in ribbed white sheets over a brown shale cliff on the left, Bridal Veil sits just beyond it, and the wide curve of Horseshoe Falls carries the horizon on the right. A small white excursion boat noses toward the mist across the turquoise river.
About the artwork
Painted rather than flat-blocked. The water is worked in hundreds of fine vertical strokes so each sheet of the cataract has its own weight, the mist is soft-edged where it meets the boat, and the river surface is broken into ribbons of teal, jade and deep navy. Rock is warm brown with cool shadow poured into the fissures, and clumps of red sumac burn along the left bank under dark green scrub. Towering cream cumulus fill the upper third against a saturated blue sky. The lettering runs across the bottom of the image in white: NIAGARA FALLS with NEW YORK letterspaced below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- All three falls in one view. American, Bridal Veil and Horseshoe are laid out in sequence, which is what the New York overlooks actually give you.
- The boat gives the scale. One small hull at the foot of the drop tells you how tall the cliff really is.
- A river, not just a waterfall. The lower half is given over to moving water, so the print works as a colour piece as much as a landmark piece.
- Red against green. The sumac on the near bank keeps the palette from settling into all blue.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Turquoise and cream carry the print, so it lifts a cool room: pale grey, soft white, chalky blue. In a warmer scheme the red sumac does the connecting work against terracotta or rust. White or natural wood framing keeps the mist bright, as in the arched alcove photograph above; black framing pushes the river darker and more dramatic.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? There is a lot of detail in the water, so give it room. 18" x 24" reads well in a hallway or above a desk; 24" x 36" or larger lets the boat and the far rim of Horseshoe Falls stay legible from across a room.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives stretched in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
How is this different from your other Niagara Falls design? We illustrate Niagara twice, in two separate styles. The other one is flat vector work, made of clean colour shapes with the place name set across the top of the image. This is the painted version: brushstroke texture in the water, soft mist, deep shadow in the rock, and the title placed along the bottom edge.
What does the print say? NIAGARA FALLS in bold capitals at the foot of the image, with NEW YORK spaced out beneath it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
