A New York souvenir license plates poster: a close black and white photograph of three novelty plates reading NEW YORK, with a blurred street behind them.
About the artwork
The plates are stacked down the right side, sharp and close, while the left side melts into soft background blur. Inside the large letters on the plates you can make out a small skyline photo. One plate carries the line THE EMPIRE STATE, and another is marked as a novelty plate, not for road use. Small price tags and a TAXI tag poke in at the top corner, the way they would on a street stall. In the blurred background, a fire escape and building fronts hint at where the rack stands.
Why you'll love it
- A souvenir that isn't kitschy. It nods to a trip to New York in a calm, black and white way.
- Lettering you can read from afar. The bold plate text stays clear even at a small size.
- Works in casual rooms. It suits dens, game rooms and kitchens as easily as a living room.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it in a den, a garage-turned-studio or a kitchen nook with open shelving. A black frame suits the stamped metal look of the plates, and a natural frame adds warmth. Put it beside the New York street signs photograph for a pair of city details.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What text is on the plates? NEW YORK on each plate, THE EMPIRE STATE on one, plus small price tags and a TAXI tag.
Is the background in focus? No, the street behind is softly blurred so the plates stand out.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
