A New Haven Connecticut poster looking across a college quadrangle in late afternoon light. Paved paths cut diagonally over a clipped green lawn, ranges of gothic brick and stone buildings run away to the right with steep slate roofs and tall chimneys, and a pinnacled tower rises above them all, its tracery windows and buttresses lit warm against a flat blue sky.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with crisp shadow edges and no gradient in the sky. The palette is built on warm brick — terracotta, russet and sandstone on the walls and tower — set against a strong mid-blue sky and two greens, a bright sunlit lawn and deep shadow cast by the elms. Paths are drawn as cream and pale grey flagstones with long diagonal shadows running across them. The architecture is detailed: mullioned windows, crenellated parapets, a carved crown at the top of the tower, arched doorways in the lower ranges. Type is set in white capitals at the top, NEW HAVEN above a spaced CONNECTICUT. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Collegiate gothic, drawn properly — the tower's pinnacles, tracery and parapet are all there rather than suggested.
- Light doing the work — low sun, long path shadows and a lit tower face give the picture its depth.
- Warm brick against cool blue — a simple two-colour contrast that carries from across a room.
- A campus memory, not a skyline — it is the quad itself, the ground people actually walked.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The russet brick pulls warmth out of terracotta, clay and leather, and the print looks very settled on the terracotta wall in the photographs above. On a white or cream wall a walnut or espresso frame keeps the mood scholarly. It suits a study, a home office or a landing, and it hangs well beside book spines and dark wood.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The stonework detail rewards size, so 24" x 36" over a desk or console. 16" x 24" holds up well in a hallway or as part of a pair.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? Only the place: NEW HAVEN in large white capitals with CONNECTICUT spaced beneath it. There is no other lettering on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
