An Indianapolis Indiana travel poster standing in the middle of Monument Circle at low sun: the limestone shaft climbing the full height of the sheet with a gilded figure on top, sculpture groups and seated stone lions ringing the stepped base, curved beaux-arts blocks closing the circle behind, and a long diagonal shadow thrown across the brick.
About the artwork
Hard-edged shapes with flat shading and a low, slightly wide-angle viewpoint that lets the paving fill the bottom third of the sheet. The colour is unusual for a city print: a desaturated teal-grey sky streaked with thin horizontal cloud, cream and bone limestone facades, cool teal in every shadowed window and doorway, and a large field of terracotta red brick laid in a running pattern underfoot. The only saturated note is the gold statue at the very top. Look for the domed corner building on the left and the arched shopfronts along the curve. The lettering reads INDIANAPOLIS above INDIANA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Ground level, not aerial — the print puts you on the brick looking up, the way the circle is actually experienced.
- Teal against terracotta — an unexpected colour pairing that reads warmer than most city posters.
- Sculpture detail — the figure groups and lions around the plinth are drawn individually, not blocked in.
- One landmark, whole square — the ring of buildings gives the monument context instead of isolating it.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The brick red floor makes this one sit beautifully on a terracotta, clay or warm cream wall — the walnut sideboard against the terracotta wall in the photographs above is close to ideal. On a cooler grey or sage wall the teal sky takes over instead and the print reads much quieter. Espresso or walnut framing suits the warm half; black works if you want the limestone to snap.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The monument is tall and thin, so height helps: 18" x 24" upward keeps the sculpture groups readable, and 24" x 36" is the natural size over a console or a bed.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive unframed and rolled. Framed canvas ships ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? It does not name the monument. The lettering across the sky reads INDIANAPOLIS in large white capitals with INDIANA below, and part of the word sits behind the gilded statue.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
