This Montmartre Paris watercolor print shows the white domes of the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur on top of the hill in Paris, seen from the gardens of Square Louise-Michel below. Think of it as an artist's take on the neighborhood rather than a precise record of it.
About the artwork
The basilica is left mostly as white paper, shaped with fine gray ink lines and cool blue-violet shadows. The gardens are dotted with green and yellow washes, and the old carousel glows in gold and teal. Sacré-Cœur sits at the top center with its large egg-shaped dome and smaller domes, while terraced gardens and stone staircases with balustrades climb toward it, the Montmartre funicular runs up the right side, and gray-roofed houses fill the left. The carousel and the square fill the foreground under full summer trees, with long drips at both lower corners. "PARIS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Painted carousel scene. The lit vintage carousel with children around it gives the foreground a cheerful focus.
- Funicular on the hill. A small blue-and-white funicular car climbs the slope beside the terraced gardens.
- Street music and crowds. A guitarist and people on the steps bring the busy summer mood of Montmartre to the scene.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
White stone, garden green and touches of gold brighten a living room, a hallway or a family room. Give it to someone who climbed the Montmartre steps on their first trip to Paris, or as a cheerful housewarming present. Pair it with our Paris watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Montmartre Paris? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Sacré-Cœur and Montmartre, and a few elements, like the position of the bell tower, are slightly rearranged.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PARIS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
