This Montevideo watercolor print shows the Palacio Salvo towering over Plaza Independencia, with the Artigas equestrian statue in front and the Puerta de la Ciudadela at the left. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Montevideo, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The Palacio Salvo is washed in stone cream, with dense ink lines for its balconies, small towers and domed crown. The old city gate is drawn block by block in gray stone, and the Río de la Plata is a flat band of pale blue. Weathered cream, gate gray and palm green lead the palette, with pale river blue and a turquoise vintage car as accents. The palace stands right of center and reaches into the upper third, the columns of Teatro Solís line the left, and a paved square with palms runs through the middle. A wide river with a cargo ship stretches across the background under warm late-summer sun. "MONTEVIDEO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Turquoise classic car. A vintage car rolls through the stone city gate.
- Equestrian monument. The Artigas statue stands on its stone pedestal in front of the palace.
- River horizon. A cargo ship sits on the wide Río de la Plata behind the city.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Soft cream, gray and green suit a calm living room, an office with brass or wood details, or a bedroom in neutral tones. It is a warm gift for someone from Uruguay or a reminder of an afternoon in the old city.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Montevideo? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Plaza Independencia, with landmarks arranged together for the painting rather than shown as an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MONTEVIDEO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
