A Montaña de Oro State Park poster that looks north along the park's bluff line: layered sandstone cliffs dropping straight into turquoise water, long white lines of surf sliding onto a tan pocket beach, a grey-and-green ridge rising behind the headland, and a foreground bank of golden bush sunflowers leaning over the coastal path.
About the artwork
This is a painted illustration rather than a flat vector graphic — soft brush shading, visible strata in the rock, individual petals on the flowers. The palette runs deep navy and teal through the open ocean, pale aqua in the shallows, warm ochre and rust across the eroded cliff faces, sage and olive in the coastal scrub, and saturated marigold in the flower heads along the bottom edge. Tall cumulus clouds stack over the ridge in cream and soft grey against a clear blue sky. The type sits at the foot of the print in white: MONTAÑA DE ORO above a smaller line reading STATE PARK • CALIFORNIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The park's own name, drawn out. Montaña de Oro means mountain of gold, and the artwork earns it with a whole foreground of yellow bloom.
- Two landscapes in one frame. Surf and sandstone below, the inland ridge above — the exact combination that makes this stretch of San Luis Obispo County coast different from a plain beach print.
- Colour that carries across a room. The teal-to-marigold contrast reads clearly from the far side of a hallway or living room.
- A record of a real walk. For anyone who has hiked the Bluff Trail or camped at Spooner's Cove, the view is immediately recognisable.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The marigold foreground picks up oak, rattan and warm terracotta, so the natural and espresso frames suit it better than black. Against a chalk-white or pale sand wall the teal water stays the loudest thing in the room; on a soft sage wall the scrub and ridge tones settle in and the flowers do the work instead. It sits well over a cream sofa or a teak sideboard, as in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" holds the wall on its own. For a gallery wall or a narrow hallway, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" keeps the flower detail readable without crowding.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads MONTAÑA DE ORO, with STATE PARK • CALIFORNIA underneath. The ñ is printed as it appears on the park's own signage.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
