A Manchester New Hampshire poster of the riverfront millyard. A long run of red-brick mill blocks stretches away along the bank, five storeys of arched windows repeating into the distance, while the Merrimack drops over a low weir in the foreground and breaks into whitewater around squared granite piers. Church spires rise on the hill behind the brick.
About the artwork
Hard-edged screen-print style: flat shapes, strong shadow blocks, no soft gradients. The palette is a deliberate two-way split — hot vermilion and burnt orange for the brickwork against petrol blue and deep teal for the water and sky, with cream and pale sand carrying the foam and the cut stone. The repetition of window rows gives the picture its rhythm; the churning water gives it movement. Small details hold up: the sluice edge of the weir, the mortar courses on the piers, the slender steeple and a second tower behind it. Type is set in white capitals at the top, MANCHESTER above a spaced NEW HAMPSHIRE. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The millyard, not a skyline — the brick river frontage is what makes Manchester look like nowhere else in New England.
- Real contrast — vermilion brick against petrol water is a genuinely strong colour pairing, and it carries across a room.
- Water with movement — the foam below the weir is drawn in layered flat shapes, so it stays graphic rather than muddy.
- Industrial without being cold — warm brick and old granite, closer to working history than to loft-style decor.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The orange and teal are loud enough to carry a plain wall on their own, so keep the surroundings quiet: white, chalk or warm grey. The terracotta wall in the photographs above picks the brick straight out of the picture, and a black frame suits its hard edges better than gold. Works well in a home office, a study or a stairwell.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The long run of mill windows reads best with width, so 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" above a desk or sofa. 16" x 24" still works in a hallway.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What are the buildings? They are the nineteenth-century textile mill blocks that line the river through the centre of the city, shown from the water side above the falls.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
