A Lost Maples Texas fall poster that looks straight down the canyon of the Sabinal River in the Texas Hill Country. Shallow turquoise water slides over pale limestone ledges and drops through one small riffle, copper and rust bigtooth maples crowd both banks, and a stepped grey limestone rim rises on the left under tall white cloud.
About the artwork
This is a painted illustration rather than a flat vector design: brushed gradients, layered foliage and modelled rock give the cliff face and the water real depth. The palette runs rust, copper and burnt orange in the maples against cream and buff limestone, turquoise river, slate-blue ridgelines and a soft mid-blue sky. A dark maple trunk frames the left edge and its canopy arches across the top of the sheet. Type sits at the foot of the image in white: LOST MAPLES, STATE NATURAL AREA, with STATE PARK and TEXAS on the line below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Texas autumn, which is rare — Lost Maples is one of the few places in the state where bigtooth maples turn properly copper, and the print is built around that colour.
- Hill Country geology, not generic woodland — the columnar limestone rim and the flat river slabs are what the canyon actually looks like.
- Warm palette that carries a wall — rust and cream read strongly from across a room without fighting the furniture.
- For people who walked the East Trail — a specific memory of the Sabinal, not a stock forest scene.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rust and limestone-cream palette sits well on warm white, clay or oatmeal walls, and it is one of the few landscape prints that holds its own against terracotta. Oak and walnut frames pick up the maple trunk; black frames sharpen the turquoise river. It works over a dining sideboard or in a reading corner, much like the teak sideboard and the cream sofa settings in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sideboard or a bed, 24" x 36" holds the wall. In a hallway or a gallery wall, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" is easier to place, and the canyon detail still reads at that size.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas ships in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The lettering across the bottom reads LOST MAPLES, STATE NATURAL AREA, with STATE PARK and TEXAS underneath. The park sits near Vanderpool in Bandera and Real counties, west of San Antonio.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
