A Lincoln Memorial travel poster taken square-on from the far end of the Reflecting Pool as the last light goes. Floodlights wash the marble colonnade warm amber, the seated figure is visible in the shadowed centre bay, and a band of coral and orange burns along the horizon under heavy violet cloud. The lower half is the memorial again, upside down in the water.
About the artwork
A symmetrical, front-on composition built from hard-edged shapes with soft gradients only in the sky. The colour runs on two opposites: amber and honey on the lit columns and the attic wall, against violet, plum and deep indigo across the cloud bank and the pool. A thin strip of coral and burnt orange separates them at the treeline, which is drawn near-black. The colonnade is rendered column by column with the cornice ornament picked out, and the reflection is broken into loose horizontal ripples. The type reads LINCOLN MEMORIAL with WASHINGTON, D.C beneath it, in white. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Dead-centre symmetry — the memorial and its reflection split the frame in half, which makes it easy to hang and hard to get wrong.
- Lincoln is actually in it — the seated statue is drawn in the dark middle bay, not implied.
- Amber against violet — the warm floodlight and the cold dusk sky do all the work; there is almost no other colour.
- The blue hour, not midday — the version of the Mall people see on an evening walk.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Violet and amber are a formal pairing, so this one belongs in a study, a panelled hallway or above a desk rather than in a bright kitchen. Warm white and greige walls let the amber columns glow; the white panelled wall with the herringbone floor in the photographs above shows it at its most classical. Black or espresso frames suit the symmetry. Avoid a cool grey wall, which flattens the sunset band.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The symmetry reads from a distance, so it works small. Use 12" x 18" in a gallery wall, 18" x 24" over a desk, or 24" x 36" as a single statement in a hall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas is stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Is it a dark print? The sky and pool are deep violet, so it reads as a dark image on the wall. Matte canvas or matte paper both keep the amber columns from being lost behind glare.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
