A Lake Powell Arizona Utah poster looking down a flooded side canyon from high on the rim. Deep blue water winds between sheer sandstone walls, a small white tour boat sits mid-channel far below, and a pale bleached band marks the old waterline along the rock. Layered mesas and cliffs recede into haze under a row of flat-bottomed cumulus.
About the artwork
Painted in a detailed, hard-edged illustration style, with each cliff face broken into facets of light and shade rather than smooth gradients. The palette runs salmon, rust and brick red in the near walls, bleached cream and grey at the waterline, cobalt through to near-black in the deep water, dusty mauve in the far canyons, and a strong teal sky with cream clouds. Scrub in dark olive clings to the ledges. Set in white capitals at the base: LAKE POWELL, with UTAH-ARIZONA beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A reservoir on the Colorado — the water fills Glen Canyon behind the dam, which is why the walls run straight down into it.
- The waterline tells the story — that pale band of bleached rock is honest about how much the lake has dropped.
- Scale you feel — the boat is tiny in the frame, and that single detail sets the size of everything else.
- Two states in one view — the lake straddles the Utah and Arizona line, and the print names both.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Red rock against deep blue is a strong pairing, so a plain wall serves it best: warm white, greige or a soft clay. The blue channel gives it a home in a room with navy or denim textiles, while the salmon cliffs keep it from feeling cold. An espresso frame suits the darker water, and a natural oak frame reads warmer, as in the teak bedroom in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The distant cliffs carry a lot of fine detail, so 24" x 36" or larger is where this one comes alive. At 12" x 18" the blue channel still reads clearly against the red walls.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads LAKE POWELL on the first line and UTAH-ARIZONA on the second, so the two states appear in the opposite order to the product name.
Is there a print of a particular spot on the lake? Yes. This one is the wide view down a canyon arm; the shop also carries a separate Lone Rock print, which shows the single sandstone butte standing in the water at the northern end of Lake Powell.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
