A Lake Placid New York poster looking down the shoreline on a windless morning. A dense wall of pine and spruce fills the left of the frame and drops straight into the water as a mirror image, sun-warmed boulders mark the water line, and three Adirondack ridges fade back into pale blue behind an unbroken sheet of lake.
About the artwork
Almost a single-colour piece. Everything is built from one blue-teal family: near-black spruce in the foreground, mid teal on the sunlit conifer tops, three progressively paler blues for the receding ridges, and an ice-blue sky. The only warm note in the whole poster is the ochre on the shoreline rocks and a few lit branches. Trunks and needles are cut as fine hard-edged shapes, and the lake is drawn as thin horizontal strokes that break the reflection without blurring it. The type reads LAKE PLACID with NEW YORK below, both in white. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A near-monochrome palette — one blue-green family top to bottom, which makes it unusually easy to live with.
- Mirror composition — the treeline repeats upside down, so the print reads as two halves meeting at the waterline.
- Depth by layering — four flat planes of ridge, each a shade lighter, do all the perspective work.
- Cool and quiet — no figures, no buildings, no boats. It lowers the temperature of a room.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue-green over blue-green wants a warm wall to push against, so cream, oatmeal or a soft clay suits it better than white. The sage green room in the photographs above is the closest match in tone and shows how quietly it sits. Natural oak and espresso frames both work; in a bedroom, hang it where morning light hits it and the pale ridges lift.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fine needle detail and the horizontal water strokes hold up at any size, so this one is forgiving. Above a bed, 24" x 36"; beside a window or in a narrow hall, 12" x 18".
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas is stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Paper or canvas for this one? Matte paper keeps the fine trunk lines crisp. Matte canvas gives a slight texture that suits the water and avoids glare in a bright room.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
