A Kejimkujik National Park poster from a granite outcrop: a dark tea-coloured river winding away between low forested ridges, ferns and pine crowding the rock in the foreground, and cumulus stacked over a flat green horizon.
About the artwork
An inland print in a series full of coastlines, and the only one where the water is dark rather than blue. The river carries the tannin stain of the surrounding bog and is painted in deep teal and near-black, with the far bank reflected in it; against that the granite slabs in the foreground read very pale, drawn with their fracture lines and patches of lichen. Ferns and low pine fill the bottom corners, worked frond by frond, and the forest behind is built from mixed hardwood and spruce so the greens shift across the ridges rather than staying flat.
The layout is the Canadian park service sheet used across this series: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading NOVA SCOTIA · 44.43° N, 65.20° W · EST 1968, and KEJIMKUJIK at the foot in heavy condensed type over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A canoeist's park. Kejimkujik is paddled, not driven, and this is the view from a portage.
- Dark water. The tannin-stained river gives the print a depth that a bright blue lake would not.
- A National Historic Site as well. The park protects Mi'kmaw petroglyphs and canoe routes thousands of years old.
- Dark-sky preserve. One of the best places in eastern Canada to see the Milky Way.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep greens and dark water want a light wall and daylight — warm white or cream rather than grey. Natural oak frames keep it from going too heavy. It is a good study or hallway print, and it sits well beside other forest sheets such as Gwaii Haanas or Terra Nova rather than beside the bright mountain ones.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Why is the water so dark? Tannins leached from the surrounding bogs and forest stain it tea-brown. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1968.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.
If it arrives damaged, misprinted or simply wrong, email us within 14 days with photos of the piece and the packaging. We reprint and reship it free, and there is nothing to send back.
Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Dust paper prints with a clean, dry cloth; wipe canvas and framed canvas gently with a clean, damp cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed. More care tips are in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
