A Japanese sea wave print for a living room that suits earthy color. A big moss green and cream wave curls in front of a red sun with radiating rays, set in an orange-yellow sky, and a band of red, cream and blue waves runs underneath. It feels warm, bold and a little retro.
About the artwork
Moss green and cream shape the main wave, which curls in front of a red sun throwing out rays. The sky is orange-yellow, and a separate band of red, cream and blue waves runs along the bottom. The shapes are stylized and graphic, in a woodblock-style manner. The lettering reads TOKYO JAPAN and JAPANESE SEA WAVE, with two Japanese characters between them. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Earthy green, not ocean blue. The moss green wave is an unusual choice that suits olive, rust and wood tones.
- A sun with rays. The radiating red sun behind the wave gives the print a strong focal point.
- A second band of waves. The red, cream and blue strip along the bottom grounds the composition and adds a touch of blue.
- Warm sky. The orange-yellow background glows against the green, so the print reads warmly from across a living room.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it above a sofa in olive, rust or cognac leather, against warm white, cream or clay walls. It sits well with walnut or teak furniture and woven rugs. Choose 24" x 36" over a three-seat sofa or 30" x 40" on a wide, open living room wall. An espresso solid wood floating frame suits the earthy palette. Pair it with a moss green plant or a small blue ceramic to pick up the band of waves at the bottom.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this a picture of Tokyo? No city is shown. The picture is a sea wave in front of a red sun, and TOKYO JAPAN is part of the lettering on the sheet.
What wall color works behind a green and orange print? Warm white, cream or a soft clay tone let the moss green and orange-yellow stand out. A stark white wall makes it feel cooler.
Which size fits above a three-seat sofa? 24" x 36" is the usual choice. On a very wide or high wall, 30" x 40" keeps it in proportion.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
