This Isle Royale National Park watercolor print shows the white tower of Rock Harbor Lighthouse and its keeper's house on a rocky point above a quiet cove of Lake Superior. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the harbor, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The water is built from many clear turquoise and blue layers, with streaks of white paper for reflections, and fine ink lines outline the tower, the house and the basalt ledges. Drips run down the lower left, with violet and yellow splatter around the edge. The lighthouse, with its dark lantern and a keeper's house with a red-brown roof, stands on the rocks at right, seen from a point across the cove. Forested islands and the open blue of Lake Superior fill the distance, and lichen-spotted shoreline rock and reeds fill the foreground. Birches in full leaf place the scene in midsummer. "ISLE ROYALE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Moose in the reeds. A bull moose with broad antlers wades through the shallows.
- Kayaks and a loon. Two kayakers in red and yellow paddle past a loon on the water.
- Boat at the dock. A small boat is moored at a wooden dock near the lighthouse.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Lake blue, spruce green and crisp white suit a lake-cabin living room, a bedroom or a study with navy, birch or natural wood. It makes a great gift for a backpacker or paddler who made the trip out to the island, or a Michigan family who loves the Great Lakes.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Isle Royale National Park? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Rock Harbor Lighthouse, and some details, like the roof and lantern colors, are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "ISLE ROYALE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
