An Independence Hall Philadelphia poster drawn from the plaza corner, so the building runs back at an angle rather than facing you flat. The white clock tower rises on the left with its arcaded belfry, weathervane spire and two visible clock faces, and the long brick wing stretches away to the right past tall arched windows, chimney stacks and a stepped gable end.
About the artwork
Clean flat vector shapes with no visible texture, closer to architectural illustration than to a screen print. The palette is narrow and calm: brick red and rust for the walls, bone white for the tower, window frames and stone trim, slate blue-grey for the dome and roofs, and a soft duck-egg sky carrying a few thin cirrus clouds. The paving is laid in warm terracotta brick with rectangular green lawn panels set into it, and two full trees in muted olive green close off the left and right edges. Typography sits at the top in white capitals: PHILADELPHIA, with PENNSYLVANIA smaller beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Angled, not head-on — the three-quarter view shows the depth of the building, which the usual straight-on shot flattens.
- Brick red against duck egg — a soft, muted pairing that hangs quietly in a room full of books.
- Architecture drawn properly — window arches, quoins, the belfry columns and the gable steps are all there to look at.
- Founding-era history without flags — the building itself, no eagles, no bunting.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Brick red and duck-egg blue are gentle enough for a study, a panelled hallway or a library wall painted deep green or warm cream. Espresso and walnut frames follow the brick, as the walnut sideboard setting above shows; black gives it a sharper, more graphic edge. It pairs well with other historic city prints rather than with beach or desert scenes.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The window and brick detail is fine, so 16" x 24" and up keeps it readable. Over a desk or a mantel, 24" x 36" is the natural fit.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed text is PHILADELPHIA with PENNSYLVANIA beneath it. The building itself is not named on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
