A house of the blackheads poster of the town hall square late in the day: the tall brick-red gable standing in low sun with its gold clock and statues lit, the dark tiered church spire rising behind it on the left, and half the cobbles already gone into cold blue shadow.
About the artwork
Everything is built from flat, hard-edged shapes, which suits the architecture. The gable is the centre of gravity: brick red with cream stone dressings, a stepped and scrolled silhouette, a gold dial high on the face, small gilded figures standing in niches, and an openwork gold crest along the roof ridge. Under it runs an arcade of arches and a portal flanked by carved figures. The smaller cream wing joined on the left repeats the same stepped gable in miniature. Far left, a slim dark spire climbs off the top of the sheet with lesser spires clustered behind. The square takes the lower half, laid in fan-set cobbles — warm sand where the sun reaches, slate blue where the buildings cast across it, split by one hard diagonal edge. Small things stay in: a lamppost, a bin, cafe umbrellas, a parked car. The city name is set in wide-tracked uppercase with Latvia beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Gold against brick red. The gilding is picked out piece by piece, and it lifts the facade off the sky.
- One long shadow. The diagonal across the cobbles gives the print its time of day and its depth.
- Hard-edged and graphic. Flat colour blocks throughout, so it stays sharp at 30" x 40".
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Rich and architectural, so it earns a formal spot — a dining room, a panelled hallway, or above a sideboard. Deep blue-grey, ink and forest walls make the red and gold glow; warm white keeps it lighter and more graphic. It sits well with brass, dark walnut and leather. Black is the obvious frame, and espresso works if the room already has warm wood. Pair it with the Vilnius print for a Baltic old town group.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What lettering is printed on the artwork? The sheet reads Riga with Latvia beneath it. The building is the subject, but the type gives the city name rather than the name of the house.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
