A Hotel del Coronado poster seen from the dunes rather than from the lawn. The white Victorian resort spreads across the upper right of the frame with its conical red turret and steep red roofs, and the Pacific sits flat and dark blue on the left. Between you and the building, two thirds of the print is open sand with tufts of beach grass, low scrub and long afternoon shadows.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with fine line work in the grass, drawn with a very short colour list. Nearly everything is either warm or cold: honey, apricot and pale butter in the sand, vermilion and scarlet on the roofs, and one strong cobalt blue for both the sky and the sea, with cool blue-violet used straight for every shadow on the dune. The hotel is rendered in white and cream with rows of small dormer windows, a cupola with a flagpole, and a stand of palms at its base. Typography runs high in white capitals: SAN DIEGO, with CALIFORNIA smaller beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Red roofs against cobalt — the strongest colour contrast in the print is also the thing the building is known for.
- Dunes carry the composition — sand and grass fill the lower two thirds, so it works as a beach print, not a building study.
- Shadows in blue — every shadow is violet-blue rather than grey, which is what keeps the sand looking hot.
- Coronado, specifically — recognisable to anyone who has walked that beach, and quiet enough for those who have not.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cobalt and sand read well on white, pale blue and soft grey walls, and the red roofline gives a warm accent for linen and rattan rooms. A white or natural oak frame keeps it light, as the oak-framed bench setting above shows. It belongs in a bedroom or a guest room, and sits comfortably next to other beach and ocean prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The composition is simple, so it holds up small: 12" x 18" beside a door, 24" x 36" over a headboard where the dune texture has room.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed text is SAN DIEGO with CALIFORNIA beneath it. The hotel is not named anywhere on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
