A Hohensalzburg Fortress poster from across the valley: the long white fortress running along the top of its wooded ridge, the old town packed below it with green copper domes and church spires, and the pale bulk of an Alpine peak standing behind everything under a soft blue sky.
About the artwork
Three tiers, each cooler than the one below. The bottom third is roofscape — hundreds of pale grey slate roofs and cream facades drawn with their chimneys and dormers, dense enough to read as a real city. Above it the ridge rises in dark forest green, and the fortress sits on it as a long horizontal band of white render and grey roofs, with the round bastion tower and the ranges of small windows all separated. Behind that the mountains are laid in as flat planes of chalk blue and white, and the sky above them is the palest note in the frame. The palette is almost entirely blue-green and cream; the only warm accents are the terracotta of a few roofs and a small red flag. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Austria beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Fortress, city and Alps in one frame. Three subjects stacked, none of them crowded.
- Green copper domes. The verdigris against pale stone is Salzburg's exact colour signature.
- Cool and calm. A near-monochrome that behaves like a neutral on the wall.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue-green and cream with very little contrast, so it sits quietly in a room that already has colour and it takes a dark frame well — the frame supplies the edge the image withholds. It suits a study, a bedroom or a stair wall. It pairs naturally with the Hallstatt or Vienna prints as an Austrian group, and with any of the alpine landscapes since they share the same cool family.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? An elevated view across the rooftops, looking at the fortress on its ridge with the mountains behind.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
