A Hoh Rain Forest Washington poster standing in a mossy glade on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. Bigleaf maples arch overhead with long curtains of club moss hanging from every branch, sword ferns fill the forest floor, a faint trail runs out at the bottom of the frame, and a snow-covered Olympic peak shows through a gap in the canopy.
About the artwork
Painterly illustration built from fine hatched strokes, dense enough that the moss curtains read as separate strands. The palette is almost entirely green, worked in layers: yellow-green in the sunlit maple crown, olive and sage in the hanging epiphytes, deep bottle green in the spruce, near-black green in the shadowed trunks, with warm brown bark and one cool note of blue-white snow on the distant ridge. The sky behind is cream and pale blue rather than bright. Type is set in white at the base: HOH RAIN FOREST above WASHINGTON. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Moss is the subject — the hanging curtains take up the top half of the print, which is what makes the Hoh different from every other forest print.
- A mountain in a rain forest — the snowy peak in the gap reminds you the valley climbs to glaciers a few miles inland.
- Layered green — six or seven distinct greens in one image, which is why it holds up as a large piece instead of going flat.
- One of the wettest forests in the country — the Hoh takes roughly twelve to fourteen feet of rain a year, and the artwork looks it.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
All that green needs a quiet wall: warm white, bone or a pale clay. It is one of the few prints that also works against a deep green wall, where the moss reads as texture. Natural oak or white framing keeps it airy; espresso makes it heavier. Good over a bed or in a bathroom with plants, like the arched alcove in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The moss strands need scale. 20" x 30" is a sensible minimum for a main wall; at 8" x 12" the fine hatching starts to merge.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed type reads HOH RAIN FOREST with WASHINGTON on the line beneath, in white at the bottom.
Is the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park? Yes. The Hoh valley sits inside Olympic National Park, reached by the Upper Hoh Road east of Forks, and the Hall of Mosses and Spruce Nature Trail both start at the visitor centre there.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
