A Hocking Hills Ohio poster from the floor of the gorge: a shallow stream breaking white over flat rock and running straight at the viewer, rounded sandstone boulders on both banks, a deep black recess cave undercut into the cliff on the right, and hemlocks rising into a hard blue sky through the gap overhead.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with hard edges, layered in bands to build light rather than blended. The range of green is the whole point — acid lime where the sun hits the leaf canopy, mid olive on the mossy ledges, and a cold blue-green in the shaded conifers on the left. Against that sit grey-green sandstone cut in horizontal strata, a solid near-black void inside the cave mouth, and cream and pale aqua for the broken water. Sunlight is drawn as sharp-edged patches on the ferns at the cave entrance. The type is set high in white sans-serif capitals: HOCKING HILLS, with a smaller, wider-tracked OHIO beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Green on green on green — at least five distinct greens carry the print, which is rare in travel poster work.
- The cave does the drama — a solid block of shadow against the brightest foliage in the frame.
- The stream pulls you in — the water enters at the bottom edge and leads straight back to the rock shelter.
- Ohio that does not look like Ohio — a hemlock gorge, not farmland or a skyline.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a saturated, dark-cornered print, so it needs light around it. A warm white, bone or pale clay wall gives the greens somewhere to sit; the sage green room in the photographs above pushes them further, which works if you want the whole corner to read as woodland. Natural oak and espresso frames match the sandstone tones better than black.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The foliage and water detail hold up well small, so 12 x 18 works in a gallery wall. For a single statement piece in a living room, 24 x 36 inches lets the cave shadow read properly.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas ships stretched and framed in white, black, espresso or natural wood, with hanging hardware fitted.
What does the poster say? Only HOCKING HILLS in large white capitals with OHIO set smaller below it. The words State Park are not printed on the sheet.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
