A vintage western print: the words THIS IS A HIGH CLASS JOINT and ACT RESPECTABLE ring a rider tipping his hat, drawn in tan on a deep brown ground.
About the artwork
The joke is in the mismatch. A saloon rule set in careful type, ringed around a man being perfectly polite — the tone of a hand-painted bar sign that is only half serious. This is the only design in the range printed light-on-dark, and the reversal matters: tan on deep brown makes the whole sheet read as a plaque rather than a page, which is exactly the object it is pretending to be.
Why you'll love it
- A saloon rule, straight-faced. Funny because the type refuses to wink.
- Reversed out. Tan on deep brown — the only light-on-dark print in the range.
- Type in a ring. The words circle the figure instead of sitting under it.
- Bar-room scale. Made to hang where people are standing up, not sitting down.
- Built as a set. Every design in the western series shares one palette and one paper, so any combination lines up.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its natural home is a home bar, a games room or a basement wall — anywhere the joke has an audience. Because the ground is dark it also does the useful job of anchoring a gallery wall full of pale prints. White frames give it the most contrast; espresso lets it sink into a dark wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? 16" x 24" and up. The ringed lettering is fine, and it needs the size to stay readable.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Will the dark ground use a lot of ink? It is printed the same way as every other design — pigment ink on archival matte, with no extra cost or lead time.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
