A Hartford Connecticut poster taken from inside the park below the capitol. A pale paving-stone path snakes up through a wide, sunlit lawn and disappears into a belt of mature trees. Above the treeline stands the marble capitol, all pointed gables, dormers and steep slate roofs, crowned by a broad gold dome with a lantern and finial. Modern glass and concrete towers rise behind it.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with soft directional shading and fine grass texture worked into the lawn. The colour story is green and gold: deep bottle green in the shaded trees, bright lime and olive across the sunlit grass, and a broad band of warm brass and ochre on the dome. The capitol walls are cream and pale sand with grey-violet slate roofs. Behind, the office towers are drawn in cool sky blue, steel grey and mirror glass, one with a fully curved facade. The sky is a single flat mid-blue. Typography is thin, wide-tracked capitals reading HARTFORD with CONNECTICUT beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Gold against green — the dome is the only warm note in a green frame, so the eye goes straight to it.
- The path pulls you in — the S-curve of paving stones leads from the bottom edge right up to the building.
- Two centuries in one view — Gothic Revival stonework with mirrored office towers stacked directly behind it.
- Connecticut inland — the capital city and its park rather than another New England harbour scene.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The greens here are deep and saturated, so give it a light wall: warm white, cream or a pale putty. The gold dome is an obvious argument for the carved gold frame shown over the bed in the photographs above. Against the sage green wall with the black frame, the lawn and the paint blend and the dome does all the talking. It suits a living room or a stairwell where you see it from a distance.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The gable and dormer detail is small, so 18" x 24" upward holds it. Over a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40".
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? HARTFORD in wide capitals across the top, with CONNECTICUT set smaller underneath. There is no other lettering on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
