A Harpers Ferry West Virginia poster that looks down the water gap from a rocky clifftop ledge: the red brick roofs and church spire of the lower town on their point of land, the Shenandoah meeting the Potomac in a wide teal channel, white rapids breaking over the shoals, and forested cliffs closing in from both sides.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector shapes in layered flat tones, drawn without outlines. The palette runs pale sky blue at the top into deep teal and slate for the water, warm tan and grey for the stone, brick red and cream for the town buildings, and four or five separate greens from olive to near-black across the trees. Sunlight is handled as bands of lighter colour on the rock faces and small white glints on the current. The type sits in the sky in white sans-serif capitals: HARPERS FERRY above a lighter, wider-tracked WEST VIRGINIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The view people hike for — the overlook angle looking down on the point where two rivers meet, not a street-level snapshot.
- Landscape first — the historic town is one small warm patch inside a large blue and green composition.
- Quiet colour — teal, stone grey and olive sit easily beside wood furniture and off-white walls.
- Named on the print — the place name is set into the sky, so nothing needs explaining.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The deep teal water and olive ridges settle best against warm neutrals — oatmeal, clay, or a soft white. In the sage green room in the photographs above, the tree greens pick up the wall colour directly. Oak and walnut frames suit the palette better than black, though a black frame sharpens the contrast on a pale wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sofa or a bed, 24 x 36 inches holds the wall on its own. In a hallway or gallery wall, 12 x 18 or 16 x 24 keeps the river detail readable at close range.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas ships stretched and framed in white, black, espresso or natural wood, with hanging hardware fitted.
What does the poster say? The sky carries HARPERS FERRY in white capitals with WEST VIRGINIA on a second line below it. Nothing else is printed on the sheet.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
