A Graz travel poster looking down the valley from the rocks above the city: the Mur running fast and pale between two banks of terracotta rooftops, the wooded hill on the left carrying the clock tower on its crown, and the hills of Styria folding away blue into the distance.
About the artwork
The river is the spine of the composition, a bright S of blue and white water that starts wide in the foreground and narrows to a thread at the horizon. Rapids are drawn as loops and combs of white over teal, with pale boulders showing through. Either side of it the old town is a dense field of orange and red pantile roofs, each one drawn with its own ridge and shadow, broken by rounded olive-green trees along the embankments. On the left a rocky bluff rises steeply out of the roofs, wooded on its flanks, with the tower and its clock face standing clear against the sky. Downstream a low blue-grey bridge crosses the water, and a squat blue-glass building sits on the far bank among the tiles. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Austria beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A view from above. The high vantage gives the print depth that a street-level scene cannot reach.
- Orange roofs, green water. Complementary colours doing the work, with nothing forced about them.
- The tower on its rock. A single vertical accent that anchors the whole left side of the sheet.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm roof colours and a cool river make this an easy print for a living room or a study. It reads well on white, warm grey and deep green walls, and picks up terracotta, brass and walnut in the room. Walnut or espresso frames follow the rooftops; a slim black frame keeps the emphasis on the water. Hang it with other alpine and river prints from the store, or beside the Hochosterwitz Castle poster for a pair from the same corner of Austria.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the tower on the hill? The clock tower on the wooded bluff above the old town, drawn small but clear against the sky on the left of the view.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
