A Gordes travel poster from the olive terraces below the village: pale stone houses stacked up a limestone cliff to a church tower at the summit, dry-stone walls stepping down the slope, and silver olive trees standing on bare white rock in the foreground.
About the artwork
Village top left, open plain bottom right, and a long slope of rock and olives holding the two together. The olives are drawn as thousands of small leaf strokes in blue-grey and near-white on dark twisted trunks, so the bottom third of the print carries a silver cast that nothing else in the picture repeats. Underneath them the ground is bare limestone in flat slabs with hard blue shadows in every crack and dry gold grass filling the gaps. The village itself is all cut stone: shallow pantile roofs in terracotta, shuttered windows, arched openings, retaining walls in visible courses, and cypresses standing bolt upright among the terraces. A large flat-fronted building with a bell tower holds the summit. Away to the right the plain drops into a warm gold haze with lines of trees in it. The sky is deep cobalt and is the strongest colour in the print. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Olive leaves by the thousand. The silver foreground is the detail people lean in to look at.
- Dry-stone terraces. You can follow the walls course by course from the rock up to the houses.
- Cobalt over ochre and silver. One strong colour against a whole range of warm stone.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm stone colours with one hard blue, so it holds up in a room with plenty of texture already: a study, a snug, a limewashed hallway. Oatmeal, chalk and pale terracotta walls suit it, alongside linen, oak and unglazed pottery. A natural oak frame stays with the stone and the olive trunks; a white frame lifts the cobalt sky instead. It works as a Provence trio hung with the Aix-en-Provence and Cassis prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What are the silver trees in the foreground? Olives. The undersides of the leaves are painted blue-grey, which is what gives the whole bottom of the print its silver cast against the ochre stone.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
